Welcoming our new HeadTeacher, Mr Liddell

We're very pleased to introduce Mr Liddell to you.

Mr Liddell has kindly shared his journey with us from Edinburgh to becoming our new Headteacher here at St Thomas Garnet's School.

"I am an experienced and passionate educator, thoroughly enjoying my career to date which has encompassed 18 years of classroom practice and a variety of leadership roles across a range of different school settings.

Following the successful completion of my Undergraduate Business Degree in my native Edinburgh and four years of overseas travel, I completed my PGCE in Primary Education in Dorset and spent five years teaching within a Poole Middle School, specialising in Mathematics and leading PE.

My family and I then decided to take the plunge and moved to Sydney, Australia where I was fortunate enough to be appointed at an outstanding academically-selective independent preparatory school. The nine years I spent there provided me with a first-hand experience of what excellence in education looks like, gaining invaluable experience in differing roles of responsibility and an MEd in Educational Leadership.

Upon returning to the UK, I have been re-acclimatising to the English education system, including an enjoyable and successful 2-year spell as Deputy Headteacher at a Primary School in Purbeck.

I am extremely excited to begin my first Headship at St Thomas Garnet’s, and very much looking forward to nurturing, supporting and encouraging each pupil throughout their journey at our wonderful school, as well as building positive relationships with all my colleagues and the wider community."
