Year 3 go to Hengistbury Head
Year 3 visited Hengistbury Head to investigate why the Iron Age people (pre-Romans) settled there. We researched how they built the double dykes and how they constructed their sea defences.
We looked at how they used the land, especially for farming and we searched for evidence of iron stone in this area. We also looked for materials that could have been used to build their houses, like clay and reeds. We then searched for plants that could have been used at that time for food, medicine and dye.
We completed our trip with a look at the Visitors Centre.
